Frequently Asked Questions

Find clear answers about the Oniris® oral device, usage, safety, and delivery in the United States.

General Information

What is the Oniris® oral device?

The Oniris® oral device is a self-adapting mandibular advancement device designed to reduce snoring and mild obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). It gently repositions the lower jaw forward to maintain airway openness during sleep. It is CE-marked as a Class I medical device and distributed in the U.S. by AKTAY LL.

Who can use the Oniris® device?

Adults aged 18 years and older who suffer from snoring or mild to moderate sleep apnoea can use it, provided no major dental, joint, or respiratory contraindications are present. If you have any doubts, consult your dentist or healthcare professional before use.

Is a medical prescription required?

In the U.S., the Oniris® oral device can be purchased directly through the authorized distributor. However, consultation with a physician or dentist is recommended for individuals with suspected OSA or complex health history.

Usage & Fitting

How do I fit the device?

The device is thermoformable (boil-and-bite). Follow the provided instructions for heating, molding to your teeth, and adjusting advancement with the connectors. The process is reversible—you can remold if needed.

Is the device adjustable?

Yes. The Oniris® device uses a system of medical-grade connectors that allow progressive mandibular advancement for personalized comfort and effectiveness.

How long does it take to adapt?

Most users adapt within a few nights. Temporary salivation or mild jaw stiffness can occur initially but generally subsides with regular use.

How should I clean it?

Rinse the device daily with cold or lukewarm water and a soft toothbrush. Avoid boiling water or alcohol-based cleaners. Weekly use of denture cleaning tablets is recommended for hygiene.

Clinical & Safety Information

Can the Oniris® device treat sleep apnoea?

It is indicated for snoring and may be considered for certain mild or moderate obstructive sleep apnoea cases under medical supervision. Always confirm your diagnosis and follow your doctor’s recommendations.

Is it comfortable to wear?

The dual-arch, self-adapting design ensures minimal bulk and a natural mouth position, enabling easier breathing and greater comfort than single-arch devices.

Are there side effects?

Minor transient effects can include increased salivation or slight morning jaw stiffness, which typically disappear after a few days of use. Persistent pain should be evaluated by a dental professional.

Can I use it with dentures or implants?

Partial prostheses or implants are usually compatible if the device can securely fit both dental arches. Full dentures are not compatible. Always check with your dentist for a personalized assessment.
